Is it worth getting the aluminum coils in the Audioque subs?

Jus playin Audio Advice...Seriously though what amp are thinking about using.

The 2200 watt Audioque amp.

thats what I got. Its not worth getting the alums for that. The copper HDC3s can handle the 2200 with no problem. I stand by that statement for 2 reason: (1) I have been running this setup for over 1 year now with no problems at all and (2) the clipping indicator on the amp may be one of the best inventions ever. Its okay to let it flash a little but when it turns into a steady light back off of it some.

Oh...and if you didn't notice their stuff is on sale now too.

Let me also add that I have the HDC3 18 and it has a cooling gap that the others dont have. I dont know how much that helps with power handling if any but then again the newer AQs have a better copper coils supposedly but any way the AQ2200 and the HDC3s =

I'm going to either run two 12's or two 15's.

Oh...well they can handle 2200 a piece.
I am debating running 2 15s and they will be on an AQ2200 each. Also if its in you budget check out the AQ3500 amp. It will be better suited for two subs and is on-sale for $549.00.

man if the subs on sale i may have to just gone head and buy them

the 3500D isnt worth what it originally sells for. the on sale price should be the price to begin with anyway. The 2200D is good. My personal opinion of the 3500D......its basically a toped out 3K. I doubt u'll get rated wattage unless u send it into clipping. Other than that it should be good for a solid 3K @ 1ohm. And for $550 that aint bad. The subs are nice but unless I knew a dealer who would be willing to give me the hook up. I wouldnt own them for what AQ is selling them for. Still nice. If ur looking into AQ then u might wanna take a look @ Ascendant Audio (made by Fi). U'll get a better performing sub for around the same price as what u would shell out for a AQ.

I wouldnt buy the aluminums if you only using the 2200.

Man IDK. Jacob from Sundown tested that amp and even said it did what is should do just that the sundown does more. DJ even said himself that if he makes a amp to do a certain wattage thats what its going to do, not overrated not underrated but RATED. But the 3500 just isnt the watts I would need thats the only reason I am not interested in that amp.

Cant beat that deal on RD's amp though.

I've never heard a complaint about the 3500D. Did what it should.

Someone on CACO has one for trade, looking for (2) lower level 10's or 12's to run on >1500wrms.

He said his was loud especially for a singlesub setup,he was running it 2krms and double on burps I believe.

Had pressure release holes in the dustcap, very nice.

That box would work fine for him, I heard a wall with (4) Digital Designs 9515s tuned to 38hz and it got pretty damn low. Had no problem with the "low" note in Put On. But, low lows could have been better, IMO.

1k + = Sundown 1500, AQ 1200

2k + = AQ 2200

3k + = Sundown 3000, DD Z1, Crunch 3k

4-5k + = usually Atomic, DD, and a few others,
