86 ss with lt1... bought a external fuel pump and was going to use that but hearing that we might have problems with the return line. Can we use the fuel pump off a fuel injected cutlass or something of that nature and drop it in the tank or use the whole gas tank from that car? have new braided lines and fitings that we are going to use.

From what ive read the pump needs to be in the tank. With an external pump you might not achieve the correct pressure

yup real common switch is to find a tank from a fuel injected V6 monte carlo 4.3 or another g-bodt, but the 4.3 is the most common for the fuel injection swap.

I have mines up for sale (tank & sending unit) from my 4.3 monte

Bet...what kind of motor come in the monte carlo ls? Im bout to check it out later but can get the tank and pump right for 50

depends,

some came with the carb 305, some came with 4.3 262 V6

even when I get the new tank and pump you think I should still run the external with it and add a fuel pressure regulator or that 4.3 pump should do the job
St. Pete
no, no need to run two fuel pumps,

reason folks do that swap is to avoid having to do that, the pump inside the gas tank flows more than enough.
