ok ive been running some numbers in my head but cant seem to get a good box design out. I have a couple in mind but still thinking about em.... Shoot me some idea's and deisgns if possible.

my max dimentions are:

38 wide
17 high
13 deep

Its going in a 4dr jimmy blazer first gen. Im putting it in the back between the wheel wells.

each sub OD is 8.5in with an overall of 34in of sub face.

I want a tuning of 28-35hz.

If you need anymore info LMK thanks.

What kind of subs? Because it will boil down to how much air space they require to get an idea of what size to make the box.

Im pretty sure you have plenty of room though, no matter what sub you considering.
nitro
they need .5-.8 each sub. so around 2-3 cubes
Audio Advice
Do a 4th-order bandpassed.

Well depends on what subs you have.
nitro
AA assasins. single 4ohm 8's. running em at 1ohm on 1500rms.

My max demisions are posted and i dont think i will have enough room to do a 4th order
caps
If I ever make it back to me laptop I will get you a design

The orginals?? Or the ones FI makes now?

I had (4) of the OG 12s from back in 06, sounded great sealed on my Orion 1200D.

Here is a link to the specs on the older 8s, but im not sure if these are the ones you have. I know the newer ones specs are a little different.

yup those are the one. Im thinking just doing 2.1^3 sealed. I heard they do good in a sealed box.

yes they do, smile.gif I ran mine sealed for about a year. I had a design for a ported box, but never got around to building it.

Those subs do lack a little bit on the lows sealed IMO, however, friend of mine had a pair of the 12s and went from sealed to ported and got a big boost in the low end.

If you have the room, id go ported, other wise sealed. Either way, great subs IMO.

Couple vids of them ported, same car in both vids.

nitro
they look like they wang ported. I have some room to work with but cant figure out a good design to give them proper room and get a lower tuning.
teezy
Im sure CAPS will be able to help you with that, thats always a problem with a small box and low tuning, it always requires a long ass port. AA use to recommend them at 40hz, but id try a 35hz tune, will still get nice and low and may not require such a long port.
nitro
Yea ive come with a few disigns, but either

1: subs were differant distance from port. (polarity issues)
2: port so small (width) id get hella port noise
3: tuning was around 50 hz or so
4: just wouldnt work

Audio Advice
Sounds like you need to get with someone who knows what they are doing.
nitro
well i know what im doing. just seems like i hit a wall on this box design. Ive done many designs and builds that delivered impressive numbers. Just a brain fart with this damn thing. lol
Audio Advice
dunno.gif I guess...
