I was just wondering, for those that have heard cars with setups like these, were they loud?
I got a single 18" in my trunk right now getting the business, and I started to just run a pair of 15s like the 18" is sub and port back because it sounds so good in the car right now, but I know that bandpass will offer 100% output inside the car.
I was just wondering if its worth it. I know the bandpass will get low, thats no doubt, but just wondering if it will get loud.
Opinions???

That another thing that worried me, almost like trading off one problem for another. Was going with the 4th order to keep from breaking the latch thats a common problem on the trunk lids of Crown Vics.

Thats a 4th order.
6th Order is 2 Ported boxes joined together.
Front of the sub (cone) in one chamber and the Rear of the sub (magnet) in another chamber all working together as one box.

oh i was just referring to 4th order since thats what i will be using, you don't see to many 6th order bp Y? and shouldn't they create a better output than a 4th but i would imagine the box would be bigger than a 4th order also

You nailed it on the head there......remember all bandpass boxes "sandwich" the output between 2 frequenices, one on the upper end toward your amps lowpass crossover point and the other toward the low end of the frequency range.
6th orders narrow that range even further, for the sake of more output. They also usually require much larger boxes.

You dont see many 6th orders because the box size is huge, VERY sensitive to miscalculations, easy to blow a woofer because no control on the cone.

Not trying to thread jack or nothin but had a quick question.
I was thinking of doing a 4th order in a G body MCSS ported through the rear deck. Anybody have any info as to whether or not this is possible or would i be better off going another route?

BP's dont sound good in trunked vehicles unless u blowthrough with it. Other than that ud be better off with just a basic ported enclosure. Would actually sound much better. Id stay away from bandpasses until u get a few setups under ur belt. Bandpasses have to be perfectly built and designed in order to work and sound correct. Especially 6th Orders. Sealing it can be a bitch too. On another note; like crownvic02 said the deck isnt big enough, on top of that the rear seat doesnt fold down and the trunk really isnt big enough to do a bandpassed 18 or a pair of 15s anyway. People with G-Bodys need to stick with 12s.

yeah i'm doing a blowthrough with mines, but i'm not building it or designing it cause, i need that professional look if i'mma go through the seat with it, cause that lincoln posted had a good idea but it just looks a lil tacky

Yes, G-body trunks will not allow that honestly.
I wouldnt go any bigger than 12's in a G-body. I prefer 10's all day any day.

If it was flat all around, would be the ultimate trunk lol
