The time has come for my new build thread. I know its taken a minute but it'll be worth it...

My new project is my 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T.

Just like the Lac build-

THIS WILL BE A DAIL-UP KILLER!!!

Contrary to what most think about how I will do this build, I won't be going for the oversized wheel/ sittin high/ stuntin way with this one.
The route I'll be going with this one will be for a lower/ more aggresive look, keeping performance in mind somewhat. Spiced up with a trick paint job, lots of wham and some other goodies...

Even if this doesn't sound like your style & your stuck on lifted, oversize wheeled and overdone everything... You'll still appreciate this build. If not...
GO FUCK YA-SELF!!! biggrin.gif

Now, lets get to some pics of what we're working with...

PICS-

The first mod arrived today. This is my drop spring kit. I went with the Eibach SportLine 2" Drop Spring Kit.

I decided to wait on the dampers (shocks) b/c reading forums, there seems to be a difference of opinion on the performance of the stocks & aftermarkets. Some seem to feel the stocks are fine while others feel the performance ones are needed. So, I figured I'll take steps...

My plan is to get these installed this weekend if my schedule allows. My boy Laww will be doing the install. For those of you familar with my Lac build, he's the one who lifted it for the 6's.

The wheels & tires should be here tomorrow. For some reason their being delivered by transfer truck & I'm supposed to meet the driver tomorrow to get the wheels/ tires from the driver.

The wheels are 22x10 U2 35S wheels w/ a +13 offset. There IS a difference between the 35's & 35S's for anyone familar w/ the U2 35's. The "S" stands for "smooth" b/c it has a smooth dish from the outer lip to the back lip which adds to the look of the lip depth. The is the main reason I really liked this wheel. The lips look huge.

The tires are 255/30/22's. Not sure what brand. Probably some cheap ones b/c they were included in the wheel/ tire package. I didn't care. I'll ride them til its time for a new set... LOL.

I'll post pics asap on them. Also got some other goodies in route & will post pics as they arrive... biggrin.gif

The absolute first thing I did a couple weeks after I purchased the Mag was I took it to have the front 2 door windows tinted. I got what was called factory match & it ran about 75.00. Took about 30mins.

It was done by Extreme Tint & Alarms in Madison, AL. Its kinda cool- They have a machine where they type in what vehicle & window & it cuts the tint for that specific window. Their the only ones in N. Alabama w/ the cutter. No more razor blades! LOL.

Heres Pics-

Mine is a RWD. The AWD shoot out like rockets. If I were to try to run a stock AWD R/T (since mine is stock), they'd get me since they would shit on me out the hole. Then I wouldn't be able to catch them since we have the same thing... lol

Definately. Nothing extreme tho. Alot of the guys on the Magnum Forum are running 500rwhp on everyday drivers, and post the dyno results to prove it! lol

I met the driver & got the wheels & tires today. The tires did turn out to be some cheap ones. Their Sunny 255/30/22's. They only have a treadwear rating of 280. LOL. Its all good tho. I'll just ride them til I need some more.

I did see something interesting. I placed the 255/30's next to the factory equip'd 18's & seems that the overall diameter is the same. You'll see this in the pics below...

Definately. Thats what 9 outta 10 run- 22's. I thought about baggin it but just hate to go thru the maintainence & shit. I had switches before & you have to constantly maintain them. I know bags aren't as bad but still...

Actually I tried to find some 22x11's but all the styles I seen weren't hittin on nothing. Extremely plain. Unless you look at the Extreme Lip Technology wheels by Asanti. Their like 6500 for a set of 2's! Fuck that.

So, I went w/ these 22x10's. I could've gotten the DUB Inzanes in a 22x10 for the same price, which I think is a nice wheel but the style just seemed to clash w/ the look I'm going for- too much metal, IMO.

BTW, thats a nice ass Charger. Hands down!

LMAO. Yeah. Its definately possible. Those are most likely the SRT8's, which have the 6.1L & RWD. The R/T AWD has a 5.7L. If you went w/ an AWD, you'd have to switch the heads to the 6.1L heads. wink.gif

Got the wheels on today. They went on with no problems. Wal-Mart only charged $1.50 per wheel to put them on. Couldn't beat that. Hell, I'll pay $6.00 not to have to do it myself! LOL. biggrin.gif

Also had some goodies arrive today. ohmy.gif

Ok, heres some pics from the install. I homie of my mine did 99% of the work. LOL

We didn't run into any problems & it was pretty straight forward. We started at about 8:30am & we wrapped it up for a test drive at about 3:30pm, which we had a couple 15min breaks in there.

The only discrepency I found was that, in one service manual, it states that the fuel tube to the fuel tank must be removed. We found that isn't true. Just a heads up to anyone you may do this mod in the future.

Heres the finished product after the test drive & a little settling. Took it down the highway some & over a few speedbumps. Believe me, it did go down some more for anyone who does this mod. I kinda freaked a lil when the back didn't drop much when we took it off the jack...

The ride w/ the factory dampers isn't bad but it does bottom out & when it does, you'll feel the "bouncy-ness".

Overall, I'm satified w/ the outcome. I may invest in the performance dampers later on but right now I don't feel their a necessity.

Lastnight it was brought to my attention on the Magnum Forums that we should've pre-loaded the suspension before sitting it on the ground. This ensures that a level, proper lowering occurs. Also, this prevents the bushings from being worn out prematurely.
So, we did that this morning. Heres a couple pics after the pre-loading & a drive to the carwash & back...

Over the next couple weeks I'll be doing small mods here & there. I was debating on my next big mod- Paint or Stereo. I came to the conclusion that I'm going to do the stereo next. This was based on- my exsisting paint is perfectly fine & I'd hate for my new paint to get scratched or chipped while the stereo install is being done. It'd be a real b*tch to touch up kandy or the airbrushing that'll be done. My painter has come up w/ some sick ideas. Its really hard to put it off... sad.gif
It'll be worth it tho. biggrin.gif

One of the small mods, like I was mentioning, is this 3rd Brake Light Cover from CustomBrakeLights.com. Installation took bout 10mins. Nothing major.

It comes on a vinyl transfer tape w/ a little extra around the edges, which you will tuck around the edges of the lens. This prevents any red light from seeping out around the edges. Be sure to clean the lens real good before applying. I cleaned mine w/ rubbing alcohol.

Heres the pics...

The wheel choices are dramatically cut when you get into dropping or bagging on 4's. Plus other factors like having to roll fenders & shit. Tried keep it simple on the suspension side. wink.gif
