I have a soundstream xxx 6500 amp. I was trying to decide which subs to run with it. I'm debating on Solo-x's, Orion HCCA's, or Digital Designs. Do you all have any suggestions on which subs I should go with?

depends on your ohm load and your voltage. on a 12v system its not enough power to really push either

My electrical system will be upgraded. I really don't want to run a .5 ohm load daily. So I'll probably do 2 dual 4 ohm 12's. The box for an 18 would be a bitch to handle if I needed to take it out.

100% silicone
This. The silicone will seal the tear, and still be flexable enough to move with the surround.

go with what they said nvm what i said it makes sense glue would make it too stiff to move didnt really think that through

x2, though in my opinion, it would be better suited for the BLs. BTLs are nice loud low subs, but they are power hogs. They will function fine with 2000w and under, but above that is when they really begain to cut loose.
Id rather use the 3500 and work the shit out of the BLs and keep the gains low.

its either about to blow, the motor is getting to hot, or the amp cant handle the ohm load. but just cause he closed the trunk dont mean the humming stopped it just means he cant hear it over the trunk rattle

FOR THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH THESE SUBS:
this is my install i threw together for the DUB show....

-the box does not have enough airspace
-i'm not a fan of "subs up"/trunk rattle
-i'm in the market for a new amp
which would u reccommend in a vert a-body...(subs facing in)
1. a pair of 12" RD alpha
2. a pair of 12" FI BLs
3. the 12" BTLs from SKEEMASK
the sub box is going for $200...the re-coned HDC315s are going for $500 plus shippping. pm me on that

they're high end mind is ok. audioque hdc3's 10s or 12s will get loud like you want and fit that bill. btl's 12s, atomic apx's 10s or 12s, lanzar big boy 12s, what power you running cus all these subs are looking for 2-3k rms each
McHustle'n
Dec 10 2009, 01:19 AM
damn 2k 3k EACH......RMS? Not that loud, lol....but Maybe i'd do that with some 10's I wouldnt mind that...hmmm
I'd have to get into upgrading alot of electrical......But I aint got the amp(s) yet so its all in the air...
1k-2k EACH RMS of solid clean all day bass in the RIGHT box would be enough for me.....

is it reconed already, if so then yeah thats a pretty good deal, them shit ain't cheap a fucking 12 last time i check was 500 apc

Dec 11 2009, 02:31 AM
Yea says it was reconed by jacob the owner of sundown or something like..........I might go with that instead of the 2 sub setup since its cheap and there already, no waiting, but Idk....Its on craigslist but with a out of town area code, so I gotta make sure he's not scamming or bullshitting
Didn't you have some nightshades? or was that some strokers?
What's your review on them
crownvic02
Dec 11 2009, 03:01 AM
i had some strokers, wish i had owned some nightshades, i hear nuthin but positive things about them, but i have never personally heard some with my own ears, the strokers are good subs, but anything below 28hz (which you wont listen too to many songs playing that low anyway) they roll off very bad, but anything 28hz and up, they be booming pretty damn good, but for the money if you buying 2, i would save and buy some cheaper branded subs that will perform just as well, like db drive, Lanzar opti series, Soundstream t5s etc.....

JL W7's are SINGLE 3 ohm
They're made like that to work with JL amps (smart marketing)
But 2 of them wired together will give you a 1.5 ohm load, so look for an amp that will give you 2k wRMS @ 2ohms. Unless you gone go pay for 2 JL amps...

Dec 14 2009, 11:50 PM
Damn, thats not what i wanted to hear, lol. I already have 1 kicker 1000.1 , i was thinkin i can use that 1 amp for both jl's till i get another 1000.1 kicker and then do 1 kicker amp to each jl. So thats not possible? The only reason im stickin with kicker 1000.1 is cuz they on my budget, I find them on Craigslist all the time for $150, and the only reason im pickin W7s is cuz this lady at my job, her son is locked up, just got sentenced 7 yrs, and she wants $200 for both, new in a box. So can it be done?
Audio Advice
Dec 15 2009, 12:25 AM
got damn boy, i would get that and resale it, man you finna pay what $350 for amp and subs when you could flip that at least $600 and with the 2nd amp, damn near $800. i say flip it, then we can start from sratch. if you wanna keep that setup, one jl to each kicker amp will give you about the rms on the 12s since they're rated at 750rms.
214cutty
Dec 15 2009, 05:49 PM
The "birth sheet" dat came wit the amp says its pushing 1283 rms watts at 2 ohms, how do u get 750 watts?
Audio Advice
Dec 15 2009, 07:02 PM
The 12" w7s are rated at 750w RMS each.
