Im about to put a 454 in my caprice, ima put msd,high rise intake and carb! 373 gears with 700r4 trans! will that be enough to get sidewayz on 26s??????????????

a stock 454 or 6uilt?u might want a 6igger rear end an gears if u plan on doin alot of playin

yeah what you posted will be enough to get sidewayz, if you gone spend time on the highway keep the 3:73 but if all the car is going to be is inner city you can go 4:xx

What heads are on the 454? If they are "peanut ports" I would get sum 781 ovals unless you want rectangular or goin aftermarket.

I hope that 700r4 is built, and lacks a TV cable (or you know someone to adjust it). Go Full manual VB, or go built.

700r4 leading cause of failure is from a improperly adjusted Tv cable.

A dual plane low rise intake will give you more torque down low, high rise is for racing in higher rpms.... 3:73s are good enough(11.40s in the quarter) I run them in my 4door box with a AFR headed 496 big block, 400tranny, 3500 custom Coan stall, 3:73/4:10/4:11 are in the same class of gears, they only give u about a 200rpm difference in performance... But make sure that 454 ain't tired...

x2.........or even 049 heads will work. But u will be disappointed If U have a stock 454 out of a 80s+ truck wit peanuts. All you u will be able to do is get side ways but u might as well cancel trynna stick wit others on the other end. But peanut port heads machined are good for about 450hp but not stock like numerous of other BBC heads......
So wit all that being said u will be able to get side ways with any good running 454 because of the torque all of them produce, but on the top end make sure u have some good stock heads or get prepared to hit the bank for some aftermarket BB heads.
