1.I dunno why people on here are under the missconception(sp) that Candies coming from HOK arent dies(concentrates)
2.All candies are concentrated before they get to you. The only diff between them and you is that they know how to mix it! And most of the paint stores mix the paint or candies in the back so you dont see what a candie really is , and most of yall order HOK so you really dont see it
3. ALL a candie is a die (concentrate) mixed with a clear base coat. some mixed at a 10 % ratio . and others a little more. and using a candie over a lighter base shouldnt cause fading, just means stuff wasnt sprayed correctly.
4. And cheap clear doesnt ness not last longer then expensive clear...a lot of people cant even tell the diff between the two if sprayed correctly. I sprayed inexpensive clear on a expensive job just to see what people would say ( cause people talk shit about how much they know about paint) and they was hoppin around the car talkin bout how the car was so wet.. car never faded
I agree that high solids clear is better but dont be under the missconception that the less expensive clear is gonna go to shit on you 6 mo or even a year later.
I only use 6 coats if im doin a job where lines or textures have to be covered.

So many people swear they know about paint it's ridiculous!
People don't understand that, that's all paint is, is pigment (dye, concentrate whatever you want to call it) mixed with a base, whether it be clear, a light base or a dark base.
and DEFINITELY a high solids clear is better, but hot all high solids are expensive, just gotta know who to order from...
A piss-poor paint job will fade regardless of color... nuff said.
also, not ENOUGH clear can promote fading, due to lack of UV protection... clear coat is like sunscreen for paint.
A properly painted piece though... will last quite some time... but as mentioned by someone else, down here, paint jobs are switched like underwear... but I STILL do a great job...
