Full Version: Bubble Motor Swap Question

Whats up, I got this clean 96 for a stack but im gonna put a built 350 in it. How hard or easy is this gonna be? do i need to know anything special or anything? I plan on goin with a turbo 350 tranny. And also i want to be at least as powerful as an lt1 so what is it gonna take to do that in yalls opinion?

if u put a 5.7 in there it it just plug and play . becasue the wires for a 4.3 and 5.7 are the same... as far as i know,.

drop dat 350 cause uts a 3 speed get dat 700r4 cause if not u gone runnin but a nigga wit a 305 with dat r4 trans will still get out on u

my bad i meant to say im puttin in a built carbureted 350 in i dont want fuel injection and all those wires

Just that the speedometer in your bubble reads electronically and the turbo 350 trans is mechanical so gonna have to do something there. The fuel pump 2.

I got the motor and everything the heads are gettin worked on now i know how to do all this shit i just mainly was questioning about fitment and stuff like that .......mainly is the tranny gonna line up to the cross member

yeah i dont see why it wouldnt.. the motors are the same size just the one is fi and one is carbed...what kinda motor ya takin out of the bubble...

why didn't you do a lt1 in there, from what i have heards it's plug in play just gotta swap out the computer and thats it

Hey furlow is putti g a carb 350 engine in the same as a fi 350 .I am looking this 96 bubble with no trans and a tired 4.3.And trans should I go with .Is a turbo 350 possible.

Ummmmmmm, first off WTH are you talking about? I can tell you got a A+ in grammar too.

700r4s can be built to take some abuse, and have overdrive along with a steeper first gear, which works well with larger cars. Also the ability to runa lock up convertor, which allows to basically run any stall and be able to run it on the highway.

TH350 is a cheaper semi stonger (holds up better) and easier to find in good shape then a 700r4. Shifts harder and firmer then a 700r4 could ever, basicaly stock.

Im doing a th350 in my 92 caprice, with a Non Lockup 3500 stall.

Yeah you can use your setup from the 700r4 in the th350, Impalassforum is down right now but its been done succesfully and I belive you can use the 700r4 cable in the th350.

The fuel has to be changed, Id rec a 91-92 TBI fuel pump or just tap the tank for an aftermarket fuel pump.

Have to know what you doing as the tank is plastic.


How wild is this build? do you just want to drive or want to run? or what?

Its not hard at all to swap, Ive done it.

305 to 358 TPI soon to be Vortec Single Plane EFI 358 smile.gif btw......... should run in the 12.6s smile.gif with a 4300lb wagon allgood.gif
