yeah. i would go ahead and buy the right motor to avoid any issues with all the parts and harnesses that go with it. my 1999 motor and my homeboy 2002 motor the block the same but pulleys and other shit all different.

All that money and time to make a motor that was never intended to be in a Stang is not worth it IMO.

Just build a Carb motor even simpler if your stressing the money.

No Electronics to worry about period.

It all depends on what you are after. My uncle got a stock crown vic motor in his mustang and sounds and rides dam good.

The funny thing is I want to do the oppsite, I want to pull a 4.6 DOHC out of a 04 Mustang GT and put it in my 04 Crown Vic.

For what your trying to do, I would just get a GT 4.6 instead. Just a better motor, esp if you plan on building on it at all, which im sure at some point you will.

Mod motors arent cheap.

But that would be a cool swap. why not go all out and get a Navigator 5.4 and get down the bussines.

Prolly find them cheaper then stang motors anyway.

The supercharged 5.4 out of the Lightning truck would be a better choice, ive seen that swap done before online. Only problem, the owner had to go with a new hood, because the motor plus the supercharger was so large, it would not completly fit under the factory hood, (blower was sticking out).

No matter what you go with, understand its going to cost regardless. I got 2 damn good mechanics that stay next door to me, that build race engines for alot of local guys, and im real cool with them, and it still would cost me alot out of my pocket for the swap.

Thats kinda out there, he didnt want to spend 1.2k on a mustang motor what makes you think hell spend 4-5k pluss on a lightning motor. I know the yards or anyone else is gonna rape you.

Same damn thing with a supercharger on it.

To keep things simple, I say just go for the complete 4.6 out of the GT with all accessories. The Crown vic block can be used but the TB and intake faces the opposite direction. If you went with the Crown vic engine, you will still have spend more money buying parts for the Mustang. Since you going from a 3.8 to a 4.6, it's best to get everything you need from the Mustang GT since it's going in a Mustang. You can do other swaps, but that's your least expensive option, in my opinion.

or just go ahead and build you a carbed 351 sbf. I'm not really a ford man but them 351's are some bad asses.
