I finally got me a g-body that i been wantin for awhile now....even tho its not a newer body style 1 like most people do ...but i like it cuz not many people do em...i got it for 2500 with no dents and juz the bottom of the drivers door is rusted thru at the drip rail and the drip rails at the top on both sides have miner rust starting to come thru

all the interior plastics are good except for the 1s runnin down the side when you open the door...all the bumper fillers in the front are good and juz need the back drivers and center piece which i found on ebay already and gonna order em in the next day or so..it came with a 260v8 with 60,000 original miles that im takin out cuz i got alil 350 with alil work done to it today with trans for a good price...so my mechanic gonna start doin that tommorrow at work and i work at a body shop so im only gonna have to pay for the materials for paint and the mechanic work there so he aint chargin me much to do all the work

got my motor torn apart today......my mechanic wants to go over everything inside and put new piston rings and make sure the cylinder walls were good and all that...plus we changin out the cam to alil bigger 1 and i wana paint the block anyways cuz its goin blue and im anodizin alot of the parts blue and sum im goin chrome on it...also wana do a serpentine setup on it so im lookin for 1 now......but its comin along pretty quik since i juz got the car last week and the motor yesterday...o and its already bored 30 over too and i got it for a good price wit a new trans so i saved alot of money on parts..heres a few pix of wat it looked like so far..(sry these fone pix so not to clear..ima take my digi up there tomm)












o ya i got a remote oil filter that was on this engine with heavy duty lines and fittings that im not gonna use if any1 wants it for like $25 and i got the cam out of it too....its juz to small for wat im tryin to do..i can take pix of both if any1 interested

finally went and got my stall convertor,headers,serpentine setup with all the pulleys and alternator,floor shifter,tilt column with no shifter,full rearend wit 373 gears and posi,new full gasket kit...and paint for the block and heads...now juz gotta get the block zero'd out and get a cam and new piston rings air cleaner and need a msd box and i'll be ready to put it all in...no pix yet of the stuff cuz i wana clean it all up...but once its cleaned up and block painted and assembled i'll have pix

dropped off a bunch of parts to get sandblasted yesterday to get ready for anodized and paint...got my camshaft and lifters....and hopefully this guy finna buy my stock motor and trans out the cutty now so thats extra money...juz needa get the block zero'd out and new piston rings and a few small parts and i should be ready to get it all put together...lol afta my mechanic get outta jail since he got hemmed up last nyte...so it mite be alil while before i get it all put togetha now...hope not tho...o and bought a fuel cell and high performance fuel pump for $100 and it was all new...sorry no pix yet but my parts are scattered everywere rite now so kinda waitin til they cleaned up and painted and anodized

finally got my pieces back from the sandblaster painted...heres a few pix of wat i got done..mainly i got all the seprentine pulleys done,manifold,valve covers,brackets,timing cover,and headers







the darker blue is the color the block n heads are goin...then imma have a few small pieces chrome on it like the water neck,oil breathers,dipstick,and aircleaner and wire looms

well my mechanic finally got outta jail for alil while so my car startin to get worked on again...im gettin the rearend sandblasted and painted now and wnet and got all new urethane bushings for the front and rear and a chrome rear differential cover...got a high torque starter a new cam and lifters and a aluminim gas tank (which i dont think imma keep cuz i wana put music in the trunk and its to big to hang underneath i think) and got a mallory high pressure fuel pump comin..and got a msd box for my msd cap n distributor....now juz gotta get the block zero'd down and my mechanic gonna port n polish the heads and i should be ready to put it all 2getha and put in the car soon (hopefully)..heres a few pix of wat i got in hte last few days

mine as well sell that gas tank u aint gon be able to use it

aiight thats koo..juz didnt want this thread to go the wrong way like most others..and i did blue cuz the car goin a outrageous blue so i wanted the motor to kinda match and wanted to be alil different(and im on a budget and i got alot of these pieces used but needed to be blasted and painted to look better) so thats y the blue

Make sure you get you a regulator for that fuel pump so you dont run into problems later down there road..(no im having them now)

well im gettin alil more progress on my motor..monday im picking it up from the machine shop..they zero'd it out and stripped all the old paint off and got the block all cleaned up inside ..and my mechanic started to port and polish the heads..and i got all my urethane bushings for front and back suspension,brand new h bearings and brand new speedpro rings, got sum chrome oil breathers for my valve covers(lol i kno nothin major) but the 1s it came wit were rusted and pitted,got a chrome dipstick(again nothin major juz a lil flash to offset all the blue on the block n parts, no juz need to get a chrome water neck and a air cleaner (prolly goin edelbrock wit the fin design to match the valve covers) and im ordering the radiator and fans that bangigears had posted
o ya and got the rearend sandblasted and painted cuz it was all nasty lookin so now its cleaned up lookin and got the chrome differential cover for it

and hopefully i'll have it all together and runnin within the next few weeks,got a few pix of the stuff i got to juz add to the thread

how much it cost you to get the rear end sand blasted

well my mechanic friends wit the guy and he did all my other parts so he only charged me $100 to sandblast and paint..which is really cheap but dude hurtin for bizznezz he say usually he charge like 2-300

but least now it look new (lol or at least not all rusted up and nasty)

im not sure if its a 8.5 or not to tell ya the truth..it came out a 79 regal that had a 406 in it and did like low 12's at the track..and i got it for the low cuz i bought a bunch of parts off this guy that had parts for days for g-bodies(got my tilt non shifter on the column from him and got a b&m floor shifter off him long wit full seprentine setup stall convertor and few other miscellanious things)

Whenever you get time take a picture of the lower part of the rearend right underneath the chrome cover

2-300 well thats still cheaper than i thought i thought it was probbly gonna cost like 4-500 i know they be taxin to blast anything but 100 thats a steal i dont even know where to go in chattanooga i think they a place in nashville though

ya all the parts at the top and the rearend i ended up payin like $400 for blasting and painting (gota good deal cuz dude friends wit my mechanic othawise it'da been alot more)

and ta capin next tyme i see it i'll take a pic (it sittin at my boiz shop waitin for the motor to get put together this week and imma start droppin everything in the car n puttin it together

o and got the hook up on a new chrome grill for my car and its not plastic...so imma be gettin it made in a week or so (kinda waiting til all my parts for the motor are paid for) then im gettin it made..and gettin my headlight bezels re-chromed to look brand new

got my edelbrock air cleaner in 2day and a chrome oil dipstick juz for alil chrome on the motor since most of its painted..now ive got almost all my parts i need to put the motor back together and in the car soon

got the block all cleaned up and painted 2day...so tomm the mechanic can start puttin it back together..finally comin together









o and the mechanic smoothed down the crank sum


now waitin for the heads to get back from the machine shop..should be in a day or 2
