My project is an '82 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.
I live in Huntsville, AL.

WARNING: This topic is a Dial-Up Killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm starting this topic to show my progress on my project in one place. Theres several pics around the forums here & there. I just figured this would be a lil more organized way of showing whats going on.

These first pics you guys may or may-not have seen but its the progress so far...

This is right after the lift was done & the 6's went on. The wheels are 26x10 LEXANI RWD FireStars w/ Kumho STX 305/30/26 rubber. No non-brand shit here!

As you can see, in the top pic we hadn't even put the center caps back on yet. We had just pulled it out of the garage. The pics are kinda shitty cause they were takin w/ a camera phone & my digi cam was getting repaired. The lift is all UCL parts & I got the parts ASAP after I ordered them. Their in Minn. & I'm in BAMA, and the shit was at my doorstep in 3days! Big props for that!

The lack lookin very presidential.

Originally I wanted the lift sky-high. That is, until I seen another Coupe on 6's locally that was squatin over the tires. It looked nice to me. So, thats how I arrived at how it sits. I may go a lil higher later on down the line if I'm feeling it.

Where it sits right now I have about 80% of my original steering radius. I'll eventually have my frame notched in the front but its not major enough right now to bother me.

The rear rubs a tad when I go over something un-even. It used to be worse but some 5/16th spacers in the rear helped a good bit. Again, not major enough to worry me. I'll eventually have the rear notched as well.

As far as ride quality- Its not factory but not a log wagon either. Theres a lil bounce which is cool w/ me. Kinda reminds me of why its bouncy. biggrin.gif

Yeah. You would take a peek when its dirty & torn apart!!! fighting0001.gif

j/k. Its all good! biggrin.gif

After the lift I moved on to the stereo, which is what I'm mainly currently working on.

The entire system is composed of MA Audio, except for the head-unit, Epicenter, connects, & batteries.

The Head-Unit is the JENSEN 9512 7" Touchscreen Flip-Out w/ remote. The beauty of this head-unit to me is that it plays SD Cards. For those who don't see the beauty in that, an SD Card is digital. So, no matter how much I turn the volume up it won't skip, b/c theres nothing to skip. biggrin.gif

P.S. I know the damn time is off...

Next. The subs I'm using are the MA Audio HardKore Competition 12's. RMS is 600w, double stacked magnets, double spiders, subs weigh 33lbs ea., & don't look too bad either! biggrin.gif

My original plan was to do 12 12's in a wall. Every place I went to said 12 12's would be no problem. So, I bought 12 12's, loaded them up, & took them to have them put in. The stereo shop calls me a day later & tells me that no way can all 12 12's go in w/ the proper air room & sound good.
Needless to say, I wasn't happy at all!!! The most they could do w/ proper air room was 9. So, 9 it is.......

Heres pics of the subs I'm using...

Its sweet. I get alot of compliments on it. I've always liked the "dancing light" eq's. My head-unit just happens to have one built in. lol

The wall was built by Steve Cook, owner of AudioX in Florence, AL. Steve has multiple world records to his name. Thats probably the #1 reason I chose to go w/ him on building my enclosure. A couple local places were in the same range price wise but I just felt like enclosures are more Steve's area of expertise.

For shits & giggles, heres a couple vids of Steve at a competition this year w/ his van.

Bye Bye Windshield

Before I took the Lac to have the wall built, I did alot of Dynamating. I didn't get pics of it b/c I did it so fast it was crazy! I was workin against a dead line b/c I had to finish the Dynamating, black-out windows, headliner, & put the headliner back in so I could get the car to Florence by 4pm on a Saturday (which is the only day I could take it).

I did 3 layers where the actual wall sits & 2 layers on the rest of the ceiling. I'll be doing the whole car so I'll get pics of the Dynamating of the other areas.

Ok. Heres pics of the wall being built. Not the best quality pics b/c they were takin w/ a camera phone. Of course, the back seat was totally removed, panels Dynamated, & 3layers of tint on windows. The material on the wall is COACH. At the last minute we added plexi-mirrors on the sides. biggrin.gif

In these pics the trim panel isn't secured b/c I've got lots of wires to still run.
The wall holds 9- 12's & 2- 5.25's on the sides. Theres 3 cambers, each w/ 3 subs. The chambers go 3 on the left, 3 in the middle, & 3 on the right. The inside of the enclosure (air room) goes all the way to the ceiling & into the trunk. The bars where the back of the back seat went were cut totally out & the box goes into the trunk.

Heres some better pics from my digi cam....

Heres a new pic.

We just finished this tonite. This is my dash pad (top of dash). We modified it to put the MA Audio MA594 1.5" Super Tweeters in it (4). We covered it in the same COACH material that the wall & headliner have to stay w/ that scheme. I think it turned out pretty good. Better than I thought it was going too! LOL ohmy.gif

Heres some close-up pics of the MA Super Tweets:

Like I was saying earlier-
The rear windows have 3 layers of tint. Some people just use black spray paint the glass on the inside. Either way is cool. I just happened to have some tint.
The pics below are w/ the wall in. As you can see, its totally black & you can't see the wood or anything.

Heres a pic of the headliner I done. Its done in the same COACH material as the wall & dash pad.
First I laid down some new actual headliner material to give it some cushioning/ padding. It was the cheapest color. I guess b/c it was an ugly ass aqua color! LOL
Then I laid the COACH over the headliner material.

I haven't put the visors & the front lights back in yet. I'll be doing that soon as I get time. Too, I wanna do some screens in the visors. So, I might do those before I put them back in.

This is a lay-out I drew up for what I have in mind for my trunk lay-out for the Amps, Batteries, Distribution Blocks, etc...
Its pretty simple I think & just basically nice. It'll be covered in COACH, like the wall, etc...

Yeah, its gonna be something. Probably gonna hurt! LOL. I'm anxious as hell to hear it...

Shit, Imma give you an honest opinion...

If anything, you need to lower the back a lil' bit. It's sittin higher then the front. Lookin like dukes'a'hazard.

And you shoulda got a paint job and a 90 front before you wasted all your money on the music and Coach material. Paint look thirsty as hell.

But other then that, it's comin along nice. I like that wall.

Actually, paint is the last thing you wanna do. You always wanna work your way inside-out.
Just like when they were putting the wall in... Theres a couple scuffs by the doors. Now, on this old factory paint, who gives a fuck. But, if it was my fresh Kandy... there'd be a fuckin problem. Especially since Kandy isn't easily touched up by just anyone. wink.gif

Now, given I have a couple scuffs from the wall going in... Imagine how many scuffs, scratches, dings, etc. I'll have after the rest of the music goes in, all the shit in the trunk is built, interior pulled & put back in, motor pulled & swapped, top replaced (glue on fresh paint is nasty!), etc...

This ain't my first rodeo Bro. wink.gif

I do agree tho- back needs to come down a lil. I put extra air in the shocks before the wall went in. I didn't wanna pick it up & be tuckin 6's! LOL.

Yeah you gotta good point. I didn't even think about the fact that you had to put the wall in and might scuff shit up.

I did paint before I finished my music, but I'm not doin a wall obviously.

What color you goin on that bitch?

No problem. I figured you weren't thinkin about that stuff.

I like the 90 front end but I like the old front end like mine too. Plus, for the 90 front end to look right you gotta 90 the rest of the car. Getting some nice panels & having them cut & all that shit is a pain in the ass! LOL. I do have a couple 90 parts going on/in the car. I'll post them soon. biggrin.gif

As far as color. I'm planning on a 2-tone Kandy RootBeer (HOK). Light RootBeer at the top, darker at bottom. Maybe some silver flake under the Kandy to give a copper flake look...

two tone.....................................uh, i guess i'll have to see how it comes out.......not really a fan unless it's tha right colors on a mag or charger
8Deuce
As me & 75 Vert were saying about "90'ing" the car... One of the steps in 90'ing the car is to switch out the analog speedometer to a digital one. This is by no means unplug one & plug in the other. Theres a good lil bit of wiring involved to get it to function properly. By the way, theres no diagram or instructions included b/c the only way to do a digital dash in one of these cars is to get one out of one of the models that had them. Problem w/ that is, they only done it for a couple yrs before they totally redesigned the car.
When you change the cluster in these the woodgrain trim & plug in the back has to be changed, which are the easy parts. I'll give a more detailed explaination when I actually do it.

Heres a couple pics...

My second choice is to do the lighter shade of the Kandy RootBeer on the whole car. I'm just tired of seeing just regular 1 shade Kandy paintjobs. It gets real repetitive!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of different color 2-tones on an ol skool. Thats more for the newer cars like mags, chargers, benzs, etc..
The yellow one w/ the brown top is on 2's (3-blades), theres a blue one on 6's, a white one on 6's (stays in the Dec but is here alot), & mine on 6's. There was an older Lac w/ the slanted back window, yellow, on some 4's (3-blades) but I ain't seen it in a long time.

^^^ LOL.

I was gonna take a pic of the Lac w/ the back lowered a lil, which did look better, and post it up. But, when I drove it this morning the back would rub like crazy on the slightest turn. So, back up it went. Its gonna have to stay a lil high in the back until I get it notched or something. Sorry guys...

Right now, the shocks in the back are air shocks, which I totally disapprove of. What I plan on doing is adding another cup in the back (on top) & just using some extended shocks. Bad thing is, I won't know what size cup I'll need until all the music is in & I can see how far down the rear goes w/o the air shocks. sad.gif

Even then, I'm still gonna have to get the back notched b/c my frame is straight in the rear & b/c of the lean from the weight when I turn. Unlike some frames that curve inward toward the center of the vehicle at the rear wheel humps.

As you can see, the rear is in limbo until the music is completed. It's fuckin driving me nuts but I guess I'm just gonna have to deal w/ it til then. dry.gif
crownvic02
yeah with just extended shocks ur ride comfort is gonna be much much better than those air shocks back of tha car gone be floating then..........using one wind up block wouldn't kill ur ride bad either u know one on each spring in tha back.......still rides pretty much like stock......but um crownvicdriver has some small cups i think they are like 1-2 inches tall was gone use them but changed my mind
T_TOP_TONY
why in the hell did i not see this while i was home. only lacs i seen were Big Rons (yellow on 4's blades) and jeremy malones old lac other than that no lacs.

Bishu's miskeen lac dont count, thats old old skool. Im gonna have to check this out when i get home but it looks pretty good now.
