iam in the middle of a project
and figured i would do a step by step how-to
on a 10inch lift for g-bodys

total cost of metal was around $325
heres what i got done so far i will post step by step pics of how to build the main part of the lift
later on in the topic
but heres the pics i have now

heres the main lift parts all cut and welded ready to be installed(the long two ended tub was later cut in half)

these are the actual drop brackets for the trailing arms and the lower a-arms

these are the front spring drop brackets

drop brackets installed on the front

better view of the front drop brackets

as i build more i will post more about this lift any questions fell free to ask
RAZOR SHARP
Looks like you know your shit. What is that round bar with the 2 smaller ends? I like the lower arm drop downs you built I deisgned some myself, they are fairly stright forward, but your pics give it more clairity! Keep them coming!!! No one really want to give this shit away, it's more a "FUCK YOU, PAY ME" mentality.
TIME FOR A CHANGE
i give it to yall... yall b tearing some shit apart and puttg it back together.. good shit

HOSSCADDY89
thanks homie`s!!
iam tired of these so -called shops that sell this shit and dont put any effort into the product

the number one reason iam doing this is to piss off a local shop (car lifter)
the dude confronted me at a late night cruz in and was real nasty to me when i told him i do lifts for fun!!
the dudes an asshole and needs to get out of the business real fast before he kills someone with his lame ass
sheet metal lifts!! lol

i got alot done on the front today including the steering brackets and the rest of the front supports
i have to get the front coils compressed to put them in
HOSSCADDY89
sorry i havnt posted any more pics and info
iam in a slow stage right now and i want to post more then one or two pics at a time

heres some spec`s on the metal i bought

2 ft of 3 inch square tube with 1\4nch wall ( cut this section into (2) 9inch long sections)
5 ft of 2 1\2 inch square tube with 1\4inch wall ( cut this section into (6)9inch long sections)
10 ft of 2inch wide X 1\4inch thick flat plate steel ( this is used for the steering and bracing)
5 ft of 4 inch wide X 1\4inch thick flat plate ( cut these so you will have 16 sections that are 4inch long X 2.5inchs wide. these are what is welded to the sides of the square tube to mount the arms to)
then you will need some 1.5 inch round tube but i bought some already cut tube section so iamnot sure on the total lenght but i will measure it out
HOSSCADDY89
heres some updated pics from last night. the steering is all done iam working on the upper balljoint extention

YoungDeezy510
it does look like a lot of work but its custom so it is what it is. i wanna see how its gonna sit when your all done with it. how much longer do you think its gonna take

the front is 90% done all i need to do is finish the spindle extenion and get longer brake lines
then i can put the springs and shocks back in
the rear will take me less then a day to complete
iam not sure if i will have to do any drive shaft work just yet iam hopin i dont .but i think thats a long shot! unsure.gif

Ur gona need a longer driveshaft!!

RAZOR SHARP
ABSOLUTLY!!!! You gonna need a longer driveshaft, I'm no where near that high, and had to get a driveshaft extended! Just what I've found! Gonna be a solid build, but it does look like bunch of work. And I can weld. Can't wait to see the stance, what you putting on this bitch 30's?
HOSSCADDY89
right now were going with a 22 with a big tire but were lifting it 10 inchs so we can up grade to 24`s with a truck tire cause the roads here in ohio suck dick
i know a few homies that have bent more then one set of 24`s with a smaller tire from hitting pot holes

I can feel you on that one folk, but really don't waste all that lift!! You gonna be tall enough to get alot more wheel and tire, I'm riding the 26's with the truck tire, 315/40/26, with my lift, for some of the same reasons your liking big tires. I'm not as high as you by a sight, and 24's with 305/35/24 tires are too small for all my lift. I don't have pics of the 6's on the wagon yet, haven't mounted up the tires yet, still under construction, but here's pics of a true 8 inch lift on 305/35/24's and it's too much gap! I like the fatter tire, alot of cats don't (and I'll probably hear it), but to each his own. 305/30/26's are pretty meaty too. These are just my findings and opinions like I said to each his own, just do it right!!! Can we get pics of the stance yet? Can't wait to see this bitch!

no pics of the stance just yet iam still working out the bugs on the spindle extenion
this is the first time i have done the extenion plus my local grade 8 bolt supplyer was out of the sizes i needed
so those are on order
YoungDeezy510
i think its goona be sittin up way to high for some 4's you should do 6's for all of that

I feel you if you got a hook up, but my local 8 grade bolt supplier is Home Depot, or Lowes!! Didn't know they were hard to find, I buy them all day long.

Yeah but a high ass lift and too small wheels and tires is a bigger no no!! And this thing is gonna be HIGH!! He's talking about doing 22's with big ass tires, and maybe 24's, I'm just saying the lift will fit alot more wheel and tire. But I do tend to agree with your opinion on the current subject.
HOSSCADDY89
were really looking to be able to upgrade as we please on rim size we honestly can afford a set of 26`s right now but we will be able to fit them chances are the car will be sold shortly after this lift and the new owner can put 26`s on it lol

i like your guys input on this thats why i did this topic

Gotcha! Get the lift right and the next guy is gonna HAVE to upgrade!!! Keep the pics coming, can't wait to see it finished!
mista_k214
good stuff homie

keep up the good work
HOSSCADDY89
here how the cars gonna sit
everything on the front is done besides the brake lines and swaybar (simple shit)
HOSSCADDY89
the car came with a set of brand new v8 coils for the front but we desided to go with the v6 coils that way the car would sit level
the car had a v6 in it from stock but has a 350 olds in it right now
DJ.
what size rims going on this
TRACE
I was thinkin the car was goin sit higher than that....thats not a bad height!!

That stance on 6s and a wet kandy FTW !
RAZOR SHARP
Yeah I'm liking the stance. I second that motion, throw some 6's on this bitch, and ride out!
HOSSCADDY89
we found a set of 26`s that are supose to bolt right up to the g-bodies for $2200 there the basic style rim but there 26`s!! we might be getting them

sure does look like alot of fukin work. imo i would shave some of those bubble out of the metal so that it can look real clean under there. it look like a sloppy job if sum one was to look under there even tho it hold tight.

iam not gonna wate my time to smooth out the welds
the weld beads are top notch i dont play around with welds that are on a major part of a car
the metal is getting painted iam not leaving it bare

Just my opinion, but you should take an hour or 2 and grind the welds before you paint the shit. They do look like good strong beads, but there's no since in painting before you make it clean. Especially the steering drop down, that's like the first shit folks are gonna see under this bitch, and they gonna be looking! No hate, just my opinion, you do you. Man you better snatch up them 26's and throw 'em on that bitch! She'd be so right!

Man finish lifting the whole car and leave it like that, then take a degreaser and spray it on your parts under the car. Take a pressure washer and plast all that dirt and shit from up under the car off the rear end and etc. etc.... After you let it dry all the way, then take black spray paint and paint under ya shit. Thats how I got my shit solid black up under cause when you lift a car that high people can see up under ya shit and it look rusty if it aint painted. After I did that it was nice and neat and I added that chrome rear end cover. I painted up under the fender walls and all that. Oh yeah I went over it with that clear spray paint too.
HOSSCADDY89
iam goona clean the shit out of the underside of the car thats fo-sho but iam not grinding down any welds fuck that shit its unnessesary work
HOSSCADDY89
i did the drop mounts for the sway bar yeasterday and iam working on lowering the mount on the lower a-arm for the shock cause it bottoms out on the shock i never realized that the top of the shock was higher then the spring itself so i have to correct that but its no big problem

Some folks on here have said alot of what you did is un-nessecary work, to each his own! It was just my opinion. Still a clean build and looks solid as fuck! I scrubbed up the whole under side, and painted it, I took shit apart and painted shit peice by peice, I plan on showing my shit, so I want different colors for each peice, so they can see the detail. When they sit this high folks can see under it, and they will look. I didn't grind up every weld either, shit that folks can't really see I left alone, I did grind up the easy to see shit, Like I said to each his own, it's a good build, and I can't wait to see it finished up!
HOSSCADDY89
started on the back today
i got alot done
the rear is 90% easyer then the front so i should be done in a few days
i will post pics tomarrow
the drop brackets are in and i cut some tube for my supports
RAZOR SHARP
Can't wait to see it! What drop down brackets are on? Don't you just have to lift and extend the rear trailing arms?
HOSSCADDY89
i made drop brackets for the rear just like the front
