hey guys, i've finished sanding.....now i am moving onto the door panels and stereo setup since i am still undecided on paint. Anyways, it doesn't look like much but its slowly coming together.

its stripped down as far as i am taking it...LOL

porting the rear deck and building a fiberglass rear dash to hold 4 6x9's and a new LED brake light

i am working on everything at the same time since i been jumping on it every night.. here is oneof the door panels, they are all ready for the speaker rings and i already have the material to start glassing (just waiting for a night away from my daughter)

Also the wheels are already here waiting, i still have rear trailing arms to install and some molding of the front bumper so it won't rub. I'm glassing the bumper to hide the ugly cut i am putting into it but i promise it won't be a chop job. That 24 fits perfectly insideof my wheel well and i don't want to change that

these wheels are deeper then anything i have seen on a lincoln, they don't stick out either... its a perfect combo (thanks Adam) don't they fit perfect in there... i love it

that was just a test fit to get an idea of what i will have to modify to install these without the nasty rubbing

here is the bagels for the haters...LOL

new shit for the lincoln

new headlights with the HID bulbs 8k
Intake with cone filter
Throttle body spacer
Dual chrome exhaust (quiet though)
4 pairs of rockford fosgate speakers
new trunk set-up
big 3 upgrade
LED bulbs for all the exterior light housings
Tranny with a B&M shift kit
new trailing arms for the rear
paint is unordered and undecided.... there is too many options but i am going for the light blue pearl finish.

i figure i should have this car done in another 4 weeks... i only get one night away from my daughter every week so its going to be alot of staying home and sanding..... and more sanding

anyone got any ideas or tips to shoot my way, please do so!!

ECR Criminal
here is more of the work i did tonight. i mounted the braces and covered the area getting ready for glass.... my staple gun got jammed up/ i got tired..LOL i wasn't able to finish the speaker ring on the panel below but i'll get it tomorrow night... i'll start glassing on thursday night so i can sand all weekend...

TRACE
thumbsup.gif Good shit...i cant wait to see what u do to it!!
ECR Criminal
i just got alot of stuff from the UPS guy tonight so i'll be running the braided wire throughout the car and also doing the big three hook up this weekend.... damn i need a baby sitter! I can do alot while my daughter is sleeping but by then its too late for power tools, i'll post more pics as i finish. I'm trying to keep good record of what i am doing cause i never did before and people always underestimate the amount of work that goes into my cars.
ECR Criminal
Tonight i installed the Throttle body spacer, and the new Intake Filter and housing.

I also laid glassed my door panels... i used an 8oz fiberglass cloth and these door panels are hard as a rock.... the two below stayed wet for almost an hour. It was getting late and the weather cooled down but they should be ready for some serious sanding this weekend.

more updates coming after this weekend
chackbayhustla
looks good man!

Shit coming out nice. Is this yo first time glassing or have you done it before? If it's easy I will prob be doing speakers in all 4 of my doors.

the glassing was really easy cause i avoided all the woodwork. I used the existing door panel and simply cut that, angled it, and i propped it at measured angles using thin metal strips. I then stapled the white T shirt around it tight, then soaked it in resin (wear gloves and a mask) as soon as it was all wet, i then laid down the 8oz material which is alot stronger then recommended and applied more resin.. i would of taken pictures of the process but its a messy situation. It took me about an hour on each door to get it prepped and taped.... I'm going to recover it in material to match the interior.

Yo!! Crown Vic, did you extend your rear control arms to fit the 295/35/24's .... they fit on as it is so i might just leave them alone. I built the box for the trunk last night so i'll post more pics either tonight or in the morning. I finally got time away from my daughter so i'm going to be busy smile.gif

Thanks for the support guys, if you guys have any advice or comments (good or bad) let me know ...

also, i have been second guessing myself on the paint issue.... i want to change the color of the car but i think anything but white won't look right. I was thinking about getting maybe a pearl white so i can avoid painting under the hood... i am already prepared to paint door jams and trunk but under the hood is alot of BS i'm not in the mood for. what do you guys think?

hey 84cutty, props to you doing your thing..... this prep is no joke sad.gif

thanks NatiDonkRyda, i can't wait to see it finished myself... i already am having dreams about driving it ...LOL

I got the stock trailing arms on my vic. You can tell where I had to cut behind the back door in my sig. If you get the extended ones it will save you from alot of cutting. nda03 vic has them on his vic and he still had to cut, but only a little bit probably half as far as i did or less than that.

i wonder if he had to get a driveshaft extension... I'll have to ask him. I don't want to cut too much
Thanks Vic, if you need any help with glassing then search the internet... i found alot of sites that did it step by step and it made it all seem alot easier.

LOL.... i plan on adding the racing stripes to increase my HP by 15%.... it came time to do exhaust and it's pointless to let it breathe better if you don't do it from both ends smile.gif

Like to see progress threads.. Comin' along well. You should do blue outrageous, or possiby two-tone if you dont wanna paint hood, trunk etc
crown_vic_driver
You shouldn't need a driveshaft extension. I changed out my driveshaft to an aluminum driveshaft (which is 1" shorter than steel) when I was under my car with my mechanic changing my rear end gears. Without training arms it was pushed up farther into the tailshaft housing. So if you get trailing arms it should be at stock length with the tailhousing and nothing to worry about!!!!

I was talking to my friend just now who paints and we were looking it over and discussing the same idea. If i two tone the lincoln using

White with silver pearl - on top
and a tri-coat blue on the bottom (not sure of which color to go with)
and separate with some kind of pinstripe

I am also thinking about building a center console for storage. I could fit a cooler between my seats and that would be nice to have access to a cold beverage at any time smile.gif

thanks for the info crown-royal-ryder rolleyes.gif i was worried about getting that extension or not... its nice to hear it from someone with the same drivetrain.
BRAH I NEED GAS MONEY
lookn good.. lookn really good.....

Good Shiii!
540BOY
Damn..i didnt know you were doing anything to the TC....i thought the link in your sig was old so i never bothered following it
ECR Criminal
I finished the bondo on a door dent and the trunk lid. i was amazed at how many little paint knicks i had to fill, i found almost 10 but over all the TC had a decent body. Its taped up now except the windshield which i will need to pull the car out of the garage and into the carport/paint booth...LOL

hey i also got the rest of the parts i was waiting on... its amazing that some people ship in two days and others do it when the come back from a month long vacation...LOL

do you guys think that 3 1/2" exhaust tips coming out behind the rear wheel would be nice... i'm not sure what to do about the exhaust.

i'm done for tonight, its freezing out there
turbo
i've seen just as big of a lip but on my lincoln 5 inch lips all the way around

You looking good, I might be tackling the same process in my 97' when the weather breaks here (wisconsin) it's also good to see someone that's taking the time and pride, by doing it themselves, all of us aren't rich, we just want to look like it. You gotta keep us posted, also I was thinking the same thing like the car would only look good white when I do the repaint, but here's some that I'm using for motivation. Keep it up pimp buddy.
ECR Criminal
i taped the car for nothing...LOL, its my first time. I still have more sanding to do and i will have to wash the car once more with a cleaner. SMH at myself, oh well

What do you guys think of the stance... i'm thinking about getting some more lift.... i like the stance but i don't want a real stiff ride and worry about tires rubbing over dips or anything like that

ECR Criminal
Thanks for the support guys, its coming along... i hope i will get a babysitter this week and find the energy to finish the stereo smile.gif
T-TOWN 813
LIFT IT A LIL BIT MORE
ECR Criminal
Yeah, this guy at the shop says he can get another 2 inches out of the stock suspension..... I'm not sure what he has planned but i may order the kit from Big Boi.... or get lower Profile tires
chackbayhustla
lookin good playa... id lift it a lil more, the tires look good on it.
Diecast Craftsman
lookin clean man!
crown_vic_driver
Sittin nice. Like the stance of it. Do you think the front fender will come down on it when you go over bumps. Mines used to until I changed out my coil springs.
ECR Criminal
i am replacing the springs and hopefully that will help. I'm not trying to have a car that i have to watch for bumps and shit.... i don't want any wheels falling off...LOL

Whenever dude with suspension comes over then i'll be all over that install.... i'm gonna like sitting a bit taller. I will be able to see over most of the cars when i'm driving and i'll like that
Down_South_Boi
yeah mayne..looking good
ECR Criminal
Upgraded the ground, alternator and engine ground to 4 guage wire

Almost done with the trunk... just gotta let the Cap charge and install it between the amps. All the wires will be hidden and i even soldered everything i could to help with securing a connection. I didn't solder to the amps though..LOL

Door Panels done, i really didn't like the way the color looked when i pulled the tape.. i'm not sure if it will be so noticable once its in the car but the material appears to have a blue tint to it... i might replace it but we'll see if it really bothers me or not

I moved the fuel and trunk buttons into the old speaker cover which is now covered with the same material. I'm not sure i really like this either but those are easy changes that i can make in my spare time
crown_vic_driver

coming along real nice.

thanks... I finally got a babysitter for the whole weekend and i really knocked out alot of work. did you get a chance to fiberglass yet?
crown_vic_driver
hell naw. fuck a onlinecarstereo.com. they had my component speakers on backorder for a few weeks (i had to call to check on my order and found out). I just said fuck the speakers right now. I fucked around and ordered some 26's from big boi and they came in yesterday. I will be in columbus thursday at his shop getting them put on with trailing arms and a arm extension piece. Pics will be up next weekend.
ECR Criminal
please show me pictures of the suspension when he is done with it... i'm trying to see what he has for our control arms.... oh and i wanna see some 6's

I ordered the paint today... i got a Blue Metallic base/ silver base for my two tone and i'll be adding pearl into the clearcoat for more depth... it looks good in my head... hopefully it looks good on the car. I'm so undecided though
crown_vic_driver
I'll be lookin out for that paint job. Is this your first time painting?
ECR Criminal

this will be my first time painting en entire vehicle (jambs and trunk also) So i'm a bit nervous smile.gif I think i should be ok though... i have been getting alot of good advice from the pro's and i have a buddy coming to make sure i'm taking care of every thing properly.
ECR Criminal
oh yeah.... and if the paint looks like crap then i'm not taking pictures... i'm going to get it painted by a professional. I have the desire to do everything myself and sometimes it cost me more to find out the hard way. I'm doing a two tone base coat clear coat so i think i'll be ok.
crown_vic_driver
Sounds like it will be straight to me.
S.Pete
damn WTF I missed this whole thing lol. I'm think you still on the 2's and shit

thumbsup.gif nice upgrade look'n good.

Thanks, i got my feet wet and now i would do alot of things different... its good to finally try it though.

I wish i had the Town Car ready in time for the SBN ...Yall might have to come to my house and check out the progress .... i got a fire pit and some cold beers
ECR Criminal
Here is a picture of the trunk completed (for now) I'm unsure what else to do, i was thinking about just getting some nre trunk carpet or doing the trunk with Line-X

Here i was last night, my new springs are in. I'm waiting on the control arms which should be at the shop on monday or tuesday

crown_vic_driver
What did you end up doing for your control arms? I got my 6's on and back lifted up right but I'm still waiting on the front control arms piece from big boi to get my shit off the frame. When I was down there this past thursday, he said the bit at the machine shop broke and they were supposed to be overnighted to me the next day.....I'm still waiting on them though.....

Trunk would be clean if it was done in fabric same color as the fabric on the speaker box. IMO.

So i had a local suspension shop make me some control arms and they are fixed with no way to align or fix camber/caster... now i am stuck in the air on jackstands pondering who i will order the upper's from

bigboi (risk waiting forever) or UCL (risk not even having the right part, or who knows...LOL)
crown_vic_driver
Yeah. Soon as I get mines from him i'll let you know how they came out. I wanted to get them 3-4 weeks ago and just decided to wait until I went down there to pick them up and now I still haven't got em. LOL. I would never order a suspension part from UCL.......My friend ordered cups from them and they are thinner material and he had to trim the front ones down to fit. Fuck all that.
