Augusta, Ga. --- Richmond County investigators said it all started with an argument over a car not being fixed properly and fighting over who would pay for it.
A man shot in the chest at Titan Auto. It happened around 5:40 Friday afternoon. When deputies arrived they found the victim, Marcus Sparks lying outside the business with a gun shot wound to the chest. He was immediately transported to MCG where he was listed in critical condition.
"After talking to the suspect, the actual argument was based over his vehicle not getting fixed properly and him wanting the money returned from the shop," Richmond County Investigator James Kelly said.
Investigators said Sparks and the suspect, 24-year-old Darnell Luchie were inside Titan Auto in the front office. Investigators said people were inside the shop at the time of the argument. They heard the gun shot and ran to see what was happening. That's when they saw two people inside the car, flee the scene.
"The vehicle that the suspects left in had fled East bound on Riverwatch and officers had located it at 15th and Greene and took a suspect into custody," Inv. Kelly said.
Investigators said Darnell Luchie was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. They said the shooting was not a random act.
"Wasn't random. I mean they went up there with the intentions of arguing about the money. A shot was fired. Suspect said he was sorry and just in the wrong place at the wrong time," Inv. Kelly said.
