Anyone here know of an easy way to get rid of the glue or take off the clear film that sometimes stays on. I been using alcohol in a spray bottle but it doens't get the clear film off. Any advice would be cool, thanks

does it eat the tint off, or is it able to release the glue under the clear film. i'm not trying to spend all day removing this tint. I actually pulled the tint off this morning and it only took 5 minutes, now i just have to get rid of the glue residue

i wouldent put it in a spray bottle homie might melt the plastic.. and dont leave the MEK container open for a long time.. it evaporates fast.. and leave 3 of the 4 doors open on your car.. its powerful shit.. oh and i might add.. very very flamable..

mek wont eat plastic unless it's a really really soft plastic. I've used it the regular old plastic bottles you get @ walmart or pepboys

yeah that and 90% concentrated alcohol is the only solvents we use @ work. Try gettin that shit in a cut, ita fuck you up. Trust me. Burns like a MF.

Oct 27 2007, 03:11 AM
yeah that alcohol is no joke. Anyone use Rain-X? i swear that stuff is just alcohol cause it will burn a cut also
L561W
Oct 27 2007, 03:16 AM
I never used rain x for removing glue, it prolly burned cause it has alcohol in it. A lot of automotive shit has alcohol in it, thats why I don't use it to actually clean my car. I got my secret cleaner that cleans EVERYTHING. Doesn't make tint shrink(like alcohol based cleaners,) dashes crack(like alcohol based cleaners,) or leather and vinyl seats slippery(like alcohol based cleaners)
You'll prolly not guess what it is. I LoL'd when I was told about it.

Lol Naw, I'm surprised more people dont know this stuff works so good. I use Simple Green for the hood and exterior, and Lemon(or whatever flavor you like) Pledge on the leather, windows, tires, dash etc etc. I've used a bunch of stuff, but I like this combo the best. It cuts your cleaning supplies from a full milk crate to a few towels, chamois, and two bottles.

do you ever condition your seats to keep them moisturized?
L561W
Oct 27 2007, 03:56 AM
I did once a long time ago. Honestly man, I'm really jaded on most car products out there. I've never really owned a car long enough to see the advantage or disadvantage of using moisturizer. Did you get my PM?

yeah i got your PM, i think i am gonna go get some saddlesoap and clean the town car seats good tomorrow, also clean the residue off the windows.

We use a steamer to soften up the glue, then spray a widow cleaner with ammonia in it. Let it soak into the glue then take a plastic dish sponge and wipe it down. Then clean the windows with alcohol. It always works for us. That's our shop #1 money maker is tint jobs, and strip and retints.

sounds good, i did manage to get all the glue off the windows by using alcohol and alot of rags, it took some time but the windows look great now. Thanks for all the advice guys, i couldn't bring myself to use the MEK stuff, me and dangerous chemicals don't mix.....kinda like oil and water

I do tint and i got the ultimate remedy for your tint removal process. It might sound crazy but i swear you can remove all the tint and glue from windows in 15 minutes. Sounded like a infomercial. But for real yall put any kind of OVEN CLEANER on the windows and let in sit on there for 10 minutes then get a flat blade and off it comes. I tried to ge a patent but was denied but trust me it works.
