Quick question : What the coldest thermostat i can run in my car ? I got a 400 sbc in it . It runs like a bat outta hella when cold . Once it warms up i can't even power brake it . If it helps the temp is reading out at bout 210 once fully warmed up .

190-210 is best for a smallblock. You may have a bigger issue than the temp if it's doggin out at running temp. Maybe heat soak or something. IDK but I'd look more into it, carburation is the first place, possibly ignition. Check the fuel pressure with it cold, then with it warm.

I'll check into somethings . It runs strong and everything but no umph at running temps. I just recently replaced my ignition coil because it would cut off and come back on when driving . i appreciate the help keep the suggestion flowing . I'll keep posting updates.

One more thing, are all sbc accessories(water pump, power steering pump, etc) interchangable ?

usually..depends on what u are using.. and what type of vehicle u r taking it from..but for the most part..they are interchangeable with little or no mods

the biggest thing to watch out for is the waterpump length, some have "long water pumps" some have short, but I'm 99% sure everything after 69 or 70 was a long water pump.

If the problem is heat soak on the carb, you could try an aluminum spacer under the carb to isolate it from heat of the intake

aight cool .

U know I had the same problem. I couldn't figure out what it was. Turned out one of my spark plub wires 2 close to the header and I guess when it got hot that's when it would stop firing on that cylinder and i would lose power. Cuss mine did it and I already had a carb spacer. That's what led me to the wires.
